Mosquito Prevention/Control:
Cleveland Department of Public Health

The Mosquito Program at Cleveland Department of Public Health work to reduce the risk of diseases that mosquitoes can spread to humans. We do this by controlling mosquito populations through several tactics, including treating standing water and conducting spraying. Because of the comprehensive and strategic nature of our program, sprayings are based on surveillance and the presence of disease, and conducted when conditions are favorable and mosquitoes are most active.

Mosquitoes need standing water in order to complete their lifecycle. They lay their eggs in still water and can go from egg to biting adult in as little as 5 days! This is why it is important to check regularly for standing water in and around our homes and to dump out or treat any water we find.

We do not conduct mosquito sprayings by request.
